What to look for
A youth climbing centre in the UK usually means one of two things: a wall with a NICAS-accredited junior club — structured, instructor-led sessions working through award levels — or a wall that simply welcomes children with junior entry rates and family-friendly sessions.NICAS (the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme) is the accreditation to look for if you want coaching rather than supervised play: it runs from level 1 (foundation) to level 5, and a wall has to meet instruction standards to offer it. Most walls also run holiday camps, birthday sessions and school groups — those are on each wall's own page.
